How can your ICT idea be turned into an invoice? What are the emerging technologies in ICT? What ideas are close to market and which are the disruptive fundamental research concepts that are currently underway?

For the sixth consecutive year, the Faculty of ICT at the University of Malta will be organising the Workshop in Information and Communication Technology (WICT) at the University Valletta campus on April 2 and 3.

WICT 2014 will have a special focus on ICT entrepreneurship and ICT applications in industry. It will showcase the research and innovation currently being carried out at the faculty, while promoting inter-departmental and industry collaboration, serving as a further inspiration to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The workshop will focus on quality published and emerging research in ICT, and its themes include the areas of artificial intelligence, communications and computer engineering, computer information systems, computer science, microelectronics, nano electronics and micro-electromechanical systems.

The workshop is mainly targeted towards industry players and entrepreneurs seeking opportunities for collaboration and innovation through research and development, undergraduate students, postgraduate students, academics and researchers.

This workshop is one of a number of activities organised by the Faculty of ICT to promote and enhance research and development through the dissemination of research work results and ideas by researchers and students reading for a degree in ICT at the University of Malta.

The main sponsors of this event are the Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA), Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, the Malta Chamber of Scientists, Information Systems Ltd (ISL), Computime, CCBill, Bit8, Smart-City Malta (SCM) and the ICT Students Association (ICTSA).
