MICALLEF. On March 16, at Mater Dei Hospital, SAVIOUR, from Rabat, residing in Attard, Ex-BOV manager, aged 64, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Margaret, née Spiteri , his children Clavia and her husband Michael Grech, Melvia and her husband Ruben Caruana, Sephora and her husband Damian Sciberras, his grandchildren Martina, David, Georg and James, his sister Josephine, widow of Carmel Fenech, and family, his wife’s family, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.30pm for St Paul parish church Rabat where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Lifecycle Foundation and Hospice movement will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

SPITERI. On March 16, EVELYN, of Sliema, aged 90, passed away peacefully at the Żejtun residence for the elderly, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Rosette, and her husband Joe Mallia, Carmen, widow of Benny Cassar, Antoinette, widow of her son John, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves the Żejtun residence tomorrow at 10am for Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery chapel, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 10.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at the cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret to inform that they are unable to receive visitors at home and would like to thank the manager, Mr Pace, and all the staff at the Żejtun home for all their care, love and kindness towards their mother. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Music tuition

Members of Our Lady of the Lily Band of Mqabba will participate in the closing activity of the second edition of the project It-Tagħlim Mużikali taż-Żgħażagħ fil-Każini tal-Banda, organised by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and the Parliamentary Secretariat for Youths in collaboration with the Malta Band Clubs Association. Road closures today

Part of St Paul’s Bay’s St Paul Street, from Cathedral Street to St Publius Street, will be closed to traffic today between 2 and 5pm.

Cars and buses headed towards St Paul Street will be diverted to Cathedral Street onto St Francis Street.

Meanwhile, due to road works in Coronation Street (in front of the police station) and Cospicua Seafront in the same day between 9am and 4pm, there will be the following diversions:

Traffic from Senglea headed towards Vittoriosa will proceed through Gavino Gulia Square.

Traffic from Immaculate Conception Street headed towards Vittoriosa will be diverted at St Helen’s Gate to Pilgrimage Street towards Paolino Vassallo Square.

Vehicles from Vittoriosa will be diverted towards Cafe Riche.

Meanwhile, route buses will be diverted as follows:

Route 1: Departing from Senglea onto St Paul Street, Gavinu Gulia Square, The Strand, St Theresa Street, Silver Jubilee Street, St Thomas Street onto San Ġwann T’Għuxa Street and proceed on its normal route to Valletta.

Route 2: Departing from Vittoriosa, buses will proceed through Verdala.

Route 3: When serving Vittoriosa (Old Terminus), buses will proceed through Verdala.

Routes 124 & 213 will not be affected.

Portrayal of Christ

On March 21, movie analyst Mario Azzopardi will trace the portrayal of Jesus Christ in films through the past 60 years. The presentation will be held at the annexe of the Naxxar parish church at 7.30pm.
