The German evangelical-ecumenical Andreas Gemeinde Malta is holding two concerts with the choir of St Marien-Klosterkirche Lehnin and the instrumental group of the Kapernaum Chamber Orchestra Berlin – Wedding.

The first concert will be held on April 5 at 7pm at Mdina Cathedral. The programme will include works from Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Francisco de Peraza, Michael Praetorious, Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Schubert.

The second concert will be held on April 6 at 6.30pm at St Andrew’s Scots Church in Valletta. The programme will include works from Heinrich Schütz, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Hugo Distler, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Johannes Brahms, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The concerts will bring together the musical church groups with members of the two parishes, the Andreas Gemeinde and the St Barbara Gemeinde. This encounter will culminate in the ecumenical service on April 6 at 10am at St Andrew’s Scots Church. Everybody is invited to attend.

Archbishop Paul Cremona kindly made it possible to hold one of the two concerts at Mdina Cathedral. Entrance to both concerts is free. Donations will be in aid of the ecumenical refugee work in Malta.

The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs is sponsoring the event.
