Mcast’s Institute of Community Services organised a charity marathon at the college’s main campus in Paola. The Ursuline Sisters and Osanna Pia Home were the beneficiaries.
A range of activities were held on the day by students from all levels and their lecturers, such as hair and beauty treatments, sports for children, food stalls, musical performances, blood donations and abseiling.
The college is also donating funds generated from the institute’s Beauty and Hairdressing Salon Services during February.
Students and staff from other institutes bought freshly prepared food and decorated muffins. The plant section required replenishing due to the high demand, while the carwash and abseiling areas had a steady queue throughout. No fewer than 33 donors gave blood in one morning.
The crowds were also entertained by live musical presentations and car shows. A night walk, coordinated by the Higher National Diploma Care and Care Degree students, also generated funds from collections, as did the outdoor camping and barbecue.
The Armed Forces of Malta, who provided the students with a large tent, took care of setting it up and taking it down.
