The first Health and Safety Day for parents and guardians was recently held at St Thomas More College’s Marsaxlokk Primary School. It was organised by the Health and Safety Unit in collaboration with the Malta Red Cross.

Parents and relatives of children attending the college took part in a number of interactive sessions in which they learned First Aid procedures needed for choking, heart attack, stroke and in the treatment of various wounds.

During the sessions, participants were taught how to quickly identify various conditions, their background and effects as well as step-by-step instructions for the treatment required.

Participants also learnt about the contents of First Aid boxes and had a close look at the inside of a Red Cross ambulance which was available throughout the day.

During break time, participants were also able to check their blood glucose level before enjoying healthy refreshments prepared by Marsaxlokk’s Parents’ School Council.

Another Health and Safety Day was organised last week at the college’s Boy’s Secondary School in Paola.
