It has recently been confirmed that the 39th Gozo Half Marathon running will be held on Sunday, April 27.

The event, which is the largest athletics event in Gozo attracting hundreds of participants, will incorporate a series of other activities. In fact, apart from the half marathon, athletes can participate in other races of shorter distances.

While adults can run in the half-marathon and eight-mile races, along with a 13.1 mile mountain bike ride, young participants will be allowed to run in the 2km or 4km, depending on ages.

All races start and finish at the Xagħra square. A total of 89 trophies will be awarded to the best performers on the day.

Fees for applications received by April 18 are set at €12 for adults and €5 for children and fun run participants. The fee is inclusive of a participation medal, transport between Mġarr ferry terminal and Xagħra as well as showering and sanitary facilities.

Interested participants can register online at www.gozomara-thon.org/apply.

One may also visit www.gozomarathon.org for more information. The organisers can be contacted through email at info@gozomarathon.org or by telephone on 7979-7957.

The Gozo Half Marathon Organising Committee emerges from within the Xagħra Youth Centre.

They are supported by the Xagħra Local Council, Ministry for Gozo, Malta Tourism Authority, San Michel and Gatorade.
