Maltese gaming company Bit8 has been nominated in the top category as Innovator of the Year at the IGA Awards in London.
Located in Ta’ Xbiex, Bit8 is a company of 40 employees hailing from all areas of the gaming industry, ranging from the developing to operators.
“At the recent ICE Totally Gaming event in London, we showcased our artificial intelligence-powered platform to the industry. We wanted to show how easy and user-friendly this system is and how rewarding it is to the business that adopts it. We had pre-planned around 40 meetings; however, after showcasing our product, we had to practically double our slots. So many companies, mostly operators, came to our stand to talk,” said Angelo Dalli, CEO of Bit8.
Five of the world’s top casinos are now using Bit8’s platform.

Freeport expands IT infrastructure
Megabyte recently completed a project enhancing the current server and storage infrastructure at Malta Freeport Terminals Ltd.
The ICT company said it designed a solution based on the latest HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage Arrays and VMware virtualisation software. Over recent years, the terminal invested heavily in its IT infrastructure, and today is one of few local companies with two data centres interconnected with fibre using virtualised technology. This technology is application independent and can be deployed as a solid disaster recovery solution for enterprises.
This project has provided means for business continuity which was critical to ensure that the terminal’s operations never stop.
