A court has rejected three libel complaints filed by former transport minister Jesmond Mugliett against Alfred Sant, finding that remarks made by Dr Sant constituted fair comment.

Two of the cases go back to 2007 and the other to 2008 and involved criticism by Dr Sant, then Opposition leader at the time when Mr Mugliett was responsible for the roads.

In finding for Dr Sant, the court also pointed out that the tolerance of acceptable criticism regarding politicians was higher than in the case of people who were not in politics.
