The Institute of Maltese Journalists (IĠM) has received 70 submissions from local journalists and other media professionals who are taking part in the 24th edition of the Malta Journalism Awards (MJA).

Submissions are being judged by a three-person jury and finalists will be announced on March 24 during a ceremony to be hosted by The Farsons Foundation in Mrieħel.

The IĠM organises these awards on an annual basis. The categories this year are: Print Journalism – news, features and press photography; Broadcast Journalism – television script, television features, film, radio, e-journalism, travel journalism and cultural journalism; Sports Journalism – print, broadcasting, sports photography, opinion articles; environment journalism; and the Maltese Language in Journalism Award.

The awards ceremony will be held on May 3 at The Palace Hotel, Sliema.

The Gold Award for outstanding contribution to journalism, will also be awarded.
