The traditional carnival treat of prinjolata received an impressive boost when, what has been claimed to be the biggest prinjolata ever made in Malta was unveiled at the carnival celebrations in Xagħra.

The prinjolata was two metres high and weighed 552 kilos. It was made from 63 litres of egg whites, 120kg of icing sugar, 325kg of biscuits, 47kg of confiture, three kilos of cherries, three kilos of vanilla essence and lemons and 44 kilos of chocolate. It was made on the initiative of Gozo Kumittiva Foundation of Xagħra in conjuction with the Tal-Lajku Confectionery patisserie.

Slices of the prinjolata were offered to the public against a donation to the Puttinu Cares Foundation. €2,400 have been raised so far.
