Video interviews of youths talking about their careers, talents, social life and fashion are being featured on The Zone at www.timesofmalta.com/thezone. Tomorrow a new interview with engineer Brandon Harney will be uploaded.

Walking up the staircase of one of the Delimara power station’s blocks feels like stepping into a space shuttle in a science fiction movie. It is not your typical office environment with a desk and colleagues around you. It’s noisy and nauseatingly high, and it is a little disconcerting knowing that this is the place where all the country’s electricity is produced.

Harney came to work at the power station as an apprentice at the age of 17. He has since completed an undergraduate, and recently a Master’s degree in engineering. Harney’s job today involves maintenance and repairs to all electronic equipment used in the power station’s four generating plants. Watch the interview with him next week on The Zone and learn more about why he chose his profession.
