Two young musicians who are perhaps better known for their involvement in the rock scene will be getting together with a jazz drummer to explore the world of jazz.

Guitarist Kyle Drakard, bassist Dean Montanaro and drummer Chris Camilleri will perform a selection of traditional jazz numbers, naturally with a little twist of their own and a touch of modern fusion. As one would expect from a jazz get-together, there will be some improvisation too.

Drakard and Montanaro are members of upcoming local progressive rock band Saneless Feel, but have always harboured a love of jazz.

“I first got into jazz when I was about 14, but more recently I had been more involved in prog rock,” Drakard saidabout this incursion into the jazz world.

“These past few months I found myself getting back into jazz, and after Dean and I attended the recent gig by The Manuel Pulis Project, we got inspired to stage our own event.”

Camilleri and Drakard have also worked together in the past, but this will be the first time all three are performing in public together.

Addicted to Jazz is being held on Friday at 9pm at Coach & Horses, Msida. Entrance is €3 and all proceeds will go to Puttinu Cares. For more information, look up the event page on Facebook.
