Moroccan Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane today called for an effort to be made for the existing relationship between the northern and southern Mediterranean regions to evolve and become stronger.

Speaking just before a meeting with Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, Mr Benkirane also said Europe needed to make a greater effort to involve the southern Mediterranean more without obliging a change in the culture, habits and traditions of the country.

Malta, he said, could play an important part in helping achieve this stronger link.

“Together we can give an example of something very positive, he said as he invited Dr Muscat to Morocco.

Dr Muscat said that during his meeting with Mr Benkirane, he wanted to discuss more concrete ways on improving on the collaboration between Malta and Morocco.
