The Xara Palace Relais & Châteaux, in collaboration with N.M. Arrigo, is hosting a wine event at De Mondion restaurant on March 14.

A four-course dinner will be accompanied by a selection of Sicilian wines. These include: Grecanico Costadune – Mandrarossa, a complex and aromatically defined white wine with a citrusy fruit character on the nose and palate; Rami – Azienda Agricola COS, a delicate white wine with notes of orange zest and Sicilian lemons, and Alla Macchia – Marco de Bartoli, a red wine with nicely balanced tannins, hints of red berries and a pinch of tabacco.

More wines include Nero d’Avola Cartaghio – Mandrarossa, a light-bodied red wine with hints of black pepper, plum and cherry on the palate and with a slight earth-tinged smell of cranberries; and the Marsala Vecchio Samperi Ventennale – Marco de Bartoli, a medium-sweet wine with aromas of dried nuts, figs and vinegary notes on the nose and smooth, honeyed and nutty flavours on the palate.

The De Mondion restaurant, set atop Mdina’s bastions, was recently listed by Fodor’s Travel Guide as one of the top 10 restaurants where one can dine like royalty. With a cuisine combining the finest seasonal produce with innovation and expertise, the award-winning kitchen brigade is led by chef de cuisine Kevin Bonello.

The price of the gastronomic dinner is €75 per person. For more information, call The Xara Palace Relais & Chateâux on 2145 0560 or send an e-mail to info@xarapalace.com.mt.
