Video interviews of youths talking about their careers, talents, social life and fashion are being featured on The Zone at www.timesofmalta.com/thezone. Tomorrow, a new interview with Donald Briffa, assistant librarian at the National Library, will be uploaded.

The serenity of the National Library engulfs you, and not only because of the architecture of the 218-year-old building in Valletta, but also because of the rare collections and priceless 15th-century illuminated codices and manuscripts that rest quietly on the shelves.

Tip-toeing through the great halls of the library and looking at the collections of books and valuables that once belonged to the Order of St John, one can’t help but wonder what it’s like to work as a librarian and look after all this priceless work.

Watch the interview with Briffa to learn about the diverse roles and challenges of the profession of a librarian in today’s technological advances.

Be heard and share your own experiences with others. Tell them about your career choice, what it takes to get where you are, the ups and downs you experience, and offer advice to those who are still uncertain about what they want to do in the future.

To be interviewed for The Zone, send an e-mail with a brief description of your career, talent, or a social issue you would like to discuss. Alternatively, you can send your own video. Send a low-resolution version of your file to thezone@timesofmalta.com.
