Teams of Grade 7 (Year 6) students at San Anton School recently competed against each other in a quiz about the EU led by Peter Agius, head of the European Parliament Office in Malta.

Four teams of students – representing the four main political groups in the European Parliament, namely the Socialists, Christian Democrats, Liberals and Greens, competed against each other.

Dr Agius asked the students various questions about the EU, and the winners were given small tokens as a memento.

The students thoroughly enjoyed this engaging experience, as they learnt about EU topics such as its formation, enlargements over the years, Malta’s admission in the EU and the introduction of the euro, while being given the opportunity to voice opinions and participate in a discussion and quiz.

School head Joe Gauci commended the hands-on learning activity which he said is in keeping with the school’s ethos of linking classroom education with the outside world.
