Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister Abdul-Razzaq al-Greidi is in Malta to study the structure of the Maltese foreign ministry as the Libyan government sets about reforming its own structures.

He was invited here by Foreign Minister George Vella who greeted him at the airport.

The invitation was made in the context of EU efforts to help the Libyan government strengthen the country's institutions.

Dr al-Greidi will have three days of intensive talks with Foreign Ministry officials.

The ministry said this visit is in line with a March 6 conference in Rome where countries will be invited to declare how they are supporting Libya strengthen its democratic institutions, security and administration.

The Libyan deputy minister will also have talks at the Mediterranean academy of diplomatic studies.
