Cafe Moak Luxol added the BOV KO to the MBA Shield after easily beating a poor Depiro team 61-35 in a generally one-sided final.

Much more was expected from Depiro after a string of positive results in the league, the last one against Luxol, their opponents in last Sunday’s BOV KO final.

Depiro were in trouble from the outset as they squandered innumerable possessions, 31 in all.

American player Nola Taylor was far off her best and it was left to Sam Brincat to pick up the pieces, finishing as the match top scorer with 24 points.

To make matters worse, Depiro’s playmaker Beverly Zammit had already committed her third foul before the end of the first quarter.

Luxol, with Patricia Bright on court from the start, exploited Depiro’s mistakes to take a 13-6 lead by the end of the first session.

As Depiro’s reaction failed to materialise, Luxol opened a 14-point lead, 32-18, at half-time.

There was no respite for the stuttering Depiro after the interval.

Luxol stretched their advantage to 42-18, going on to start the last 10 minutes 45-22 ahead.

They had no trouble controlling their advantage in the last quarter.
