Malta's Elise Pellegrin clears a gate during the first run of the women's alpine skiing slalom event at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics at the Rosa Khutor Alpine Center this afternoon.

She placed 52nd with a time of 1:07.10 out of 60 skiers who completed the run. Twenty-eight did not finish or were disqualified.

Mikaela Shiffrin (US) placed first with a time of 52.62.

Pellegrin took part in the Giant Slalom events on Tuesday.
