As part of the local pilot activities of the EU-funded project Homer, the Local Government Association, in cooperation with the Faculty of ICT of the University of Malta, is planning two large events to enhance citizens’ participation in the Open Data (OD) process, including the first ever OD hackathon organised in Malta.

The first event will be an OD conference in the morning and workshop in the afternoon of March 11 in Sliema. The event is targeted at all those who would like to learn about OD and contribute with ideas, including representatives of local councils, businesses, NGOs, ministries and government departments, IT students and general public. Foreign experts in the field of open data will be contributing to the event as speakers.

The second event will take place in the form of a hackathon (Hack4Malta) on April 5 at the Faculty of ICT building at the University of Malta

University students, IT companies and business will have the opportunity to use the OD datasets and develop new services and applications. It is recommended that those who intend to participate in the hackathon also attend the conference and workshop.
