Some 700 items held in the private collection of former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff are to be auctioned on March 5.

Belgravia auction house said the items will include  Maltese 19th C. furniture,
a collection of walking sticks; Silver; African, Eastern and Asian art; Etnographic items; Metal wares; Militaria; Paintings, Books, and personal items such as wrist watches and cuff links.

They will be on display between Tuesday and Thursday at Mr Mintoff’s former residence, The Olives, Triq is-Xintill, Tarxien.

A 1962 Mercedes Benz 190D saloon which Mr Mintoff used when he was leader of the opposition was sold to a doctor in December after no one offered to buy it at an auction for the starting bid of €20,000.
