Updated 11.45 a.m. Malta's Elise Pellegrin had a disappointing two runs in the Alpine Skiing Women's Giant Slalom in the Winter Olympics today.

She finished in 72nd place with a time of 1:36.85 in the first run out of 74 athletes. 15 did not finish

In the second run, she improved marginally to 1:36.27 and placed 65th out of 67 finishers. Seven did not finish.

Pellegrin, who has lived in France for most of her life, was the first ever athlete to represent Malta in the Winter Olympics.

Favourite Tina Maze of Slovenia came first in both runs with a time of 1:17.88 in the first run and 1:18.99 in the second.
