Nazzareno Attard was the most consistent shooter at the SR Trap Trophy competition held over the weekend at the Malta Shooting Sport Federation ranges in Bidnija.

Attard smashed a straight of 25 in the first round of the 125-clay shoot, signalling his intent on claiming the honours in an event that was staged over two days. The top six qualified for the semi-finals and medal matches.

Attard’s straight was followed by rounds of 23, 21, 23 and 23 for a total of 115, two points ahead of Brian Galea and six better off than seasoned Trap shooter Frans Pace.

Pace failed to make the cut to the last four though along with sixth-placed James Galea Jr.

In the medal match, contested on 15 clays, Attard beat George Mifsud while Galea settled for third place with Nicky Carabott fourth.

Next weekend, the federation will organise Skeet and Double Trap selection shoots.
