• The Gozo Tourism Association will hold its annual general meeting on Friday at 9.30am at the Vini e Caprici complex, Gozitano Building, Mġarr Road, Xewkija.

• In anticipation of the MEP elections in May, a conference is being held on Friday at 5pm to introduce some of the prospective candidates, hear their agenda for Gozo and give the public the opportunity to air their views, comments and ideas. It is being organised by the Gozo Business Chamber in collaboration with the EU Parliament Office in Malta at the Gozo College’s Boys Secondary School, Victoria.

• Il-Ħagar Heart of Gozo Museum will celebrate its first anniversary with a series of events at the museum in St George’s Square, Victoria.

Fondazzjoni Belt Victoria’s annual general meeting will be held on Friday at 6.30pm.

On Saturday at 10.30am, Prof. Stanley Fiorini will deliver a lecture entitled Medieval Gozo: The Identity of an Island. At noon, a collective exhibition entitled Heart of Gozo – Scenes of an Island, will be opened.

On Sunday, the museum’s coordinating curator and founder Mgr Joseph Farrugia will celebrate thanksgiving Mass at St George’s Basilica at 11am, with the participation of the Laudate Pueri Choir.

• Bethel Charismatic Group will hold a prayer meeting on Saturday at 7pm at MAS headquarters, Victoria.

• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening on Saturday at 8pm, at St Francis church, Victoria, followed by Mass at midnight.

• In preparation for the 175th anniversary of the titular statue of St George, Fr Richard Farrugia will lead an hour of liturgical prayer and catechesis entitled Is-Siegħa tal-Mar­tri (The Hour of the Martyrs), drawing inspiration from the statue, at St George’s Basilica, Victoria, on Saturday and on March 15 at 8pm.

• The Nadur Carnival gets under way next Sunday at 12.30pm at St Peter and St Paul Square. The programme consists of a variety of costumes, dances, floats and sketches, and will officially open the 2014 Carnival festivities.

• Xagħra local council will hold its annual locality meeting next Sunday at 10am at the council’s office in 8th September Avenue, Xagħra.

• The Family Commission of the Gozo diocese is organising a three-day course on parenting skills for parents of children aged between six and 12.

The sessions will be held on March 7 from 6 to 8pm, March 8 from 3 to 8pm and March 9 from 9 to 11am.

• The Legion of Mary in Gozo will hold the 44th edition of the Marian Song Festival on May 17 at the Don Bosco Oratory, Victoria. The festival is open to individual Gozitan singers aged seven upwards and to choirs. For further details e-mail the Legion of Mary at admin@ gozolegion.com.

• Victoria local council will hold its annual general meeting for residents on Thursday at 6.30pm at the council’s office. All residents are invited to participate.
