London Fashion Week gets under way today with the event showcasing the best of the industry’s creative talent.

Organisers of the British Fashion Council hope that the five-day event previewing the autumn/winter trends and featuring more than 40 catwalk shows will lead to more than £100 million in orders.

Top names showing their collections include Burberry, Julien Macdonald and Vivienne Westwood.

The British leather goods brand Mulberry is staging a photocall rather than a catwalk event as a result of not yet having appointed a new creative director following Emma Hill’s departure last year.

In a teaser for Sunday’s event, the label has released a seconds-long film showing model Cara Delevingne strolling through a train station and getting into a black cab and ending with her saying: “See you Sunday.”

The film was released on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Google+ with a #SeeYouSunday hashtag.

Meanwhile, those looking for some relief from the weather might be cheered by Wellington boot brand Hunter Original’s latest collection to be presented tomorrow.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said: “London Fashion Week is a fabulous showcase of what makes London one of the most exciting and dynamic cities on earth – its creativity.

“With the Baftas and the Brits taking place at the same time, let’s celebrate the great British talent that is acclaimed around the world.”
