On January 23, Times of Malta reported that “there may be as many as 11 new hotels opening in Valletta”.

In my opinion, the government would better restore the former parking places for cars around Floriana and Valletta if the capital is to regain its former glory and activity.

One may ask: why not take a bus? But are they always reliable?

Why was the former parking area below the Phoenicia Hotel with its entrance from opposite the Excelsior Hotel closed down? It used to take quite a big number of vehicles.

Why close down the former parking area at Lascaris ditch, which offered hundreds of parking spaces and now propose to replace it by a garden? Who will be going there to watch some soil and a few shrubs?

Most adults in Malta own a car and tourists staying at the hotels mentioned above hire cars too.

Let us enjoy a better life and not despair because we already have enough on our plate.
