England have named an unchanged starting XV and bench for tomorrow’s RBS 6 Nations clash with Scotland at Murrayfield.

Having announced on Tuesday that he would keep faith with the 23 that slipped to a late 26-24 defeat by France, head coach Stuart Lancaster has also opted to retain the same line-up.

“It’s good to be able to select the same players and they are all determined to put last week’s result behind them and build on the performance,” Lancaster said.

“Scotland will be hugely motivated by their defeat in Dublin and, as we found two years ago, Murrayfield is a tough place to play.”

The only outstanding concerns from the championship opener in Paris were the injuries sustained by lock Courtney Lawes and wing Jonny May.

However, Lawes’ cheekbone damage was revealed to be only bruising and he was cleared to play in Edinburgh the following day and May was passed fit 24 hours later despite having incurred a fractured nose.

It is the first time in Lancaster’s two-year reign that he has retained the same starting XV with the England head coach believing the performance in Paris warranted their re-selection.

“We want the team to build on the display against France and use that defeat as motivation,” Lancaster said.

“It’s a second chance for this team. Having reviewed the game there were a lot more ups than downs. We have to trust the players to get the win this time.

“We know how difficult it will be at Murrayfield. The weather will be challenging, but we approach the game with the same intent and intensity we showed against France.

“I’m sure Scotland were disappointed by the final score of their defeat by Ireland last weekend but overall they showed real attacking intent.

“There’s bound to be a reaction to their defeat in Ireland.”
