A roof panel at the entrance of a Carrefour supermarket collapsed in Nice in southern France yesterday, injuring two, officials said.

The injured were women working in the mall.

Television station BFM showed firemen and rescuers on the ground. Nearly a hundred firemen were working on site with a crane.

Local authorities said it was unlikely any victims were stuck under the collapsed roof.

Firemen would have to work on cranes for hours before lifting the collapsed part of the roof, officials said.

The Carrefour supermarket located outside the city is the largest in the area.
