Students from with Maasland College, Oss, The Netherlands, recently visited Malta at the start of a student exchange project with St Thomas More College’s Girls’ Secondary, Santa Lucia, and St Ignatius College’s Boys’ Secondary, Ħandaq.

Accompanied by their local peers and teachers Mary Mercieca and Matthew Vella, the group visited both schools and sites related to World War II, such as Fort Rinella, the War Museum, and Lascaris War Rooms in Valletta.

They were also given a tour of the Auberge de Castille, after which they met Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

Students from the two local schools will visit The Netherlands from March 16 to 23 for the second phase of the exchange. Among other things they will take readings using a shadow stick to find the earth’s circumference.
