Clifferty Calleja will be representing Malta at the European Trophy for Amateur Drivers race at the Vincennes racetrack in Paris on Saturday.
Up until last year this event was known as the Prix de Saint Claude and offered the opportunity for amateur drivers from various countries to figure in what is considered to be the best harness-racing racetrack around.
This year, the French Trotting Association has decided to invite drivers from those countries forming part of the European Trotting Union.
Saturday’s race will cover the distance of 2,100m and has a total prize-money fund of €16,000.
For Calleja this will be his first overseas experience.
In France, he will be ac-companied by Malta Racing Club chairman Matthew Brincat.
Dr Brincat will attend the 70th general assembly of the European Trotting Union.
