Qala Saints FC Nursery has donated one of its team kits to a youth football team in Nigeria.

The kits was presented by Nigerian Benneth Njoku, an Qala resident and member of the nursery’s coaching staff, during a visit to his homeland.

The nursery said that although its main aim is to help youths in developing their football talents, as a voluntary organisation it also seeks to help in their character formation. It said it believes such gestures help raise awareness among its young members of the need to help those less well off not only financially but also through acts of kindness.

It added that the gesture could also help promote the ongoing battle against racism, which sometimes still taints the beautiful game of football.

The nursery said that even though it hails from one of Gozo’s smallest villages, and thus faces constant challenges and limitations, it will keep on engaging in similar beneficial initiatives wherever and whenever possible.

It also encouraged other nurseries to undertake similar deeds.
