Revelations that the President of France has been engaging in an affair with film star Julie Gayet prompted a furious response from Francois Hollande.
While not denying the affair, he deplored the magazine Closer for publishing pictures of him dressed in black with his face hidden beneath a biker’s helmet sneaking out of his secret lover’s apartment.
He strongly condemned the publisher and editor of the magazine for this arrogant invasion of his privacy and for failing to show respect to him, not as a President but as a citizen.
French voters were absolutely stunned by these revelations and by the images of their President splashed on the front pages of the magazine...
As an old saying goes, one must lead by example. Occupying such a sensitive and delicate position in society, is it not humiliating for a President to behave in this manner? The French electorate is furious and angry with this latest controversy surrounding Hollande.
His popularity has dropped considerably since his inauguration as President of France and this latest embarrassment will surely not help him to recover lost ground.
