Anthony Mallia, 38 of Marsa, was remanded in custody today after having been accused of stealing a quantity of cables.

Police Inspector Joseph Agius said that the accused was arrested half an hour after a factory called Nylon Knitting was broken into and cables were stolen.

The accused was traced after a witness noted the number plate of the getaway car. The car belonged to the accused and the cables were found in the luggage boot.

The theft was recorded on CCTV but the accused refused to reveal the identity of a second man involved in the theft.

Magistrate Carol Peralta kept Mr Mallia in custody after noting his previous convictions.
