A Chinese gynaecologist has been condemned to a suspended death sentence for selling babies to a human trafficker.
Chinese media said Zhang Shuxia convinced parents that their newborn babies had congenital defects, and persuaded them to give up the children. She would then sell the infants to a human trafficker.
In all, she sold seven babies. Six have been recovered and returned to their biological parents.
Zhang admitted to the crime during her trial in December.
She and five other suspects have been detained in connection with the case.
A suspended death sentence is usually converted to life imprisonment.
