Students taking A-level English at the University’s Junior College recently had the opportunity to attend workshops based on Shakespeare’s play Othello, co-ordinated by the college’s English Department.

The workshops were led by Tas Emiabata, a prolific actor and Globe Theatre practitioner who holds a Masters degree in Applied Theatre from Goldsmith’s College.

Sixth Form students from St Aloysius’ College, St Martin’s College and from Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary also attended the workshops.

The students later held practical group exercises in the college’s new theatre and performance room where they experimented with gestures, body language and speech.

Among the most illuminating exercises for students and lecturers alike were those geared towards a more thorough understanding of blank verse.
