After a rigorous testing process that lasted about eight weeks, Island Engineering Services Ltd successfully acquired the necessary certifications for Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and 8, making IES Ltd the only company in Malta with this accreditation.

This accreditation ensures that IES Ltd’s systems are in full conformity with the respective operating system, thereby eliminating any issues that may arise from any certified software.

“The fast pace with which technology is evolving requires us to ensure we are constantly innovative across all aspects of our operations. Investing in this certification is in line with most public and corporate procurement requirements and having this accreditation ensures sustainability and allows IES to remain at the forefront in the sector,” said IES Ltd director Stanley Borg.

All tests that lead to this certification normally take between six to eight weeks, after which the results are securely signed and uploaded to Microsoft for evaluation. A mainstream computer system is selected and testing software is downloaded from Microsoft’s SYSDEV site.

The machine is then tweaked and configured to meet the recommendations. Certain tests, such as sound, require third-party, laboratory analysis and then packaged in a digitised format, while other tests require close collaboration with the motherboard manufacturer.
