Another member of the Alert eBusiness marketing team has just achieved certification on Google AdWords Certified Partner.

Alert eBusiness is a member of the Alert Group of Companies, and has held certification as a Google AdWords Certified Partner for the past three years.

To achieve the certified partner status, it needed to demonstrate a high level of expertise in effectively running Google AdWords campaigns for its customers. The Alert internet marketing team managed a qualified budget threshold set by Google over a set period of time. All its internet marketing experts passed Google Certified Partner Program exams which covered the understanding of the platform in general and of Google Analytics, as well as the use of best practice in paid search advertising.

The most basic model is pay-per-click, whereby an advertiser pays when a user clicks on the advert. When someone searches on Google, ads are shown on the top three listings and on the sidebar. This is done through auction bids on keywords; the highest bidder wins. Of course the platform also takes note of the most relevant ads. The advert is tailored to appear for a specific set of keywords, hence it is highly targeted. In addition, targeting can also be assigned to language and country. Another part of AdWords is advertising on the Google Display Network (websites which show Google AdWords ads).

Conrad Bugeja, head of eMarketing, explained to i-Tech how Maltese companies can benefit from it.

“Google AdWords is a highly targeted form of advertising where one can measure its return on investment. In addition it is cost effective and there is no minimum budget on the advertising spend. Google is the most popular search engine and with the Google Display Network it reaches more than 80 per cent of global internet users.”

To start using Google AdWords one, go to the website adwords.google.com and open an account. A digital agency can help you with the process and optimise the account to maximise the budget and get better results. Some optimisation required for the account is finding the right keywords, creating adverts and choosing landing pages, added Mr Bugeja.
