A one-day training course in therapeutic play techniques will be held on March 31. These techniques enable children to express their experiences and feelings through a natural, self-guided and self-healing process.

As children’s experiences and knowledge are often communicated through play, this is considered to be an important vehicle for those working with children to help resolve psychosocial challenges.

The training is suitable for counsellors, psychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, social workers, learning support assistants, teachers and early years educators, and is aimed at enhancing the repertoire of techniques they can use to help children overcome difficulties.

The course, to be held from 9.30am to 4.30pm, will be led by Jacqueline Abela DeGiovanni, director of Hand in Hand Malta and a course director with the Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy in the UK.

The fee is €120 per person, including a light lunch.

Places are limited to 20 participants, and a 10 per cent early bird discount will be given for bookings before February 14.

To book, call Ms Abela DeGiovanni on 7947 4692 or e-mail handinhand.mlt@gmail.com.
