Valletta United have intensified their recruitment drive ahead of their participation in the Premier Division competitions next season.

Former national coach Stephen Rizzo has been appointed technical director of Valletta United.

The club, led by president Victor Spiteri, have also reached an agreement with Sliema ASC to sign four players, Michael Spiteri Staines, Daniel Paolella, Michael Cordina and goalkeeper David Abela.

The Valletta squad have started pre-season training under the guidance of coach Anthony Farrugia.

“With these acquisitions, we have strengthened our squad ahead of next season when Valletta United will be competing in the Premier Division,” the club said in a statement.

Relaunched a few years ago after a long period of inactivity, Valletta are striving to re-establish themselves in the top flight.

Last year, the Citizens won the Division One league and knock-out.
