The start of the new year has brought with it higher prices of petrol, kerosene and gas, which will come into force today.

However prices will now remain locked till the end of March rather than vary on a monthly basis, in line with the government’s policy to have more stability in fuel prices.

The price of unleaded fuel has gone up by 1c per litre to €1.44 whereas the price of diesel has remained at €1.36 per litre.

Enemalta yesterday also announced that the price of kerosene was set to rise by 1c to €1.39 per litre, whereas gasoil for heating would increase by 2 cents to €1.04 per litre.

The corporation said the latest fuel consignments were based on the December Platts average price. All products are inclusive of the 2c per litre increase in excise duty in accordance with the 2014 Budget measures.

As for the price of gas, Liquigas yesterday announced that 12kg cylinders will be sold for €19.20, which is an increase of €0.90.

This is the second rise following the €1 rise announced last October. The price of 24kg gas cylinders will increase from €22.90 to €24.
