What have you come to expect of the festive season?
I pleasantly await the Christmas festivities for the delicious family dinner and relaxed parties with friends, drinking home-made mulled wine, exchanging gifts and watching a film or two. James Debono, 22, Doctor of Laws, 2nd year.
Being in my final year, this festive season happens to be one of the busiest but I always expect it to be the time where I can meet all my family and friends to cherish this time together. Chris Desira, 21, BSc Biology and Chemistry, 4th year.
I would be lying if I said that I still didn’t love the giving and receiving of presents. However, I’ve come to expect less of that really. Do you think there is enough awareness of the risks involved in drink driving?
It is never enough to promote awareness. Every year, newspaper headlines shock us with terrible fatal accidents and it seems some people never learn.
Although awareness of the risks involved in drinking and driving is crucial, it should be accompanied by a greater presence of police on our roads where they would be able to assess the situation and prevent fatalities. James Debono
Drink driving awareness seems to increase each and every year but it is never enough.
Even though there is promotion for car-pooling and the use of public transport, some prefer to use their own transport with the risk of an accident. Chris Desira
There is definitely not enough local awareness. Not only at this time but throughout the year. Matthew Alexander
New Year’s Eve celebrations seem to become more lavish every year. Greatest night of the year or the most overrated one?
It is a bit overrated. Some see it as an excuse for friends to meet and have a great night out but others believe it is simply a hyped-up expensive night. James Debono
In my opinion, NYE is the most overrated night ever because everyone expects it to be the best. It usually ends up being a normal night like all the others throughout the year. NYE is only special because all your friends happen to be at the same place celebrating the beginning of what is assumed to be a great year. Chris Desira
Although it is one of the highlights of the year I think the celebrations have become overrated and overpriced. Matthew Alexander
