In addition to a €20,000 donation presented during the event on Boxing Day, which raised over €3.41 million, Go also provided substantial logistical support.

Kurt Camilleri, head of marketing at Go, said: “Go’s support for L-Istrina goes far beyond a financial donation. The communications infrastructure required for L-Istrina is huge, requiring some 400 hours to set up. On the day, there were 145 telephone lines in operation and some 40,000 calls were made. There were also more than 10,000 SMSs sent with donations. As one of the main supporters of L-Istrina, Go provides all of its equipment and services for free.”

In addition to telephony and mobile services, Go’s technical support for L-Istrina also included TV broadcast and internet support.

This included the supply of three outside broadcasting units, 20 ADSL connections, two VDSL connections and four IPTV connections.

“As a TV, telephony, mobile and internet quad play provider, Go is able to help L-Istrina across the board to ensure that both the TV broadcast and the donations can proceed smoothly. A lot of hard work, from a lot of people, goes into making this event and we’re very grateful to all our staff who also give their time every year towards such a great cause,” he continued.
