It is bad enough that to go to The Strand in Sliema today, we are all herded towards Tigné Point. What took a few minutes to arrive there now takes considerably longer. But to compound the misery of all us drivers, we find that we have only one lane to use, as the other lane is exclusively for buses, taxis, motorcycles and bicycles.

The length of time that elapses in this one lane that we are being forced to use becomes even longer due to vehicles that come down St Anthony Street and from one side of the Bisazza Street exit.

As if that were not enough, the right turn in front of Tower Road no longer exists, so in order to go up Tower Road one has to go through two sets of traffic lights. This not to mention the fact that we have to face all the traffic that comes from Gżira.

Honestly! The person or body of persons that concocted this road plan must have come from another planet.

I was somewhat happily surprised when the Sliema local council informed us that during the Christmas period we could use both lanes, to help reduce traffic congestion, but no sooner were we told of this that the Transport Authority revoked the whole idea. What a joke!
