Justin Bieber's had enough -- or at least he's flirting with the idea, via Twitter.

The 19-year old broke the news on Christmas Eve, when he tweeted to his 48 million followers:

"My beloved beliebers, I'm officially retiring"

The statement was retweeted nearly a quarter of a million times.

That was followed by:

"I'm never leaving you, being a belieber is a lifestyle," and "I'M HERE FOREVER."

The tweet was sent out just before the Christmas Day release of singer's new movie, "Justin Bieber's Believe," which chronicles the young star's life.

The second-most followed tweeter on Earth has been involved in a series of incidents over the past year.

One involved a scuffle with a photographer outside a London hotel in March. In June, he struck a photographer with his Ferrari. Police later dismissed it as not constituting a 'hit and run'.

In his newest movie, director Jon Chu suggests that the 19-year old Canadian singer's life could become a "train wreck."

Bieber representatives did not immediately reply to requests to clarify the most recent tweets.
