The data centre of the Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA) in Sta Venera has been shortlisted as one of four finalists in the prestigious DatacenterDynamics EMEA Awards 2013 – Leadership in the Public Sector.
The winner is the Comunidad De Madrid Athene Data Centre Project of Spain, and the other two finalists are GSI Helmholtzzentrum from Germany and University of East Anglia of the UK.
The DatacenterDynamics Awards are the leading awards for the data centre industry, recognising innovation, leadership and ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking.
A team of international judges assessed a broad range of data centre projects of all sizes, across all sectors with many worthy entries.
MITA said this nomination was based on the optimisation efforts carried out within its data centre over the past 12 months. The agency focused on attaining tangible efficiency gains, while retaining the core principles of resiliency, reliability and security in its Data Centre operations.
Last year, MITA won this award for its successful project implementation of MITA Data Centre, which is certified to TIER III classification by Uptime Institute.
