Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, one of the leaders of the Libyan uprising and former chairman of the Libyan National Transitional, will be the guest speaker during the launch of the book ‘Gonzi and Malta’s break with Gaddafi. Recollections of a Premier.’

Mr Jalil will be participating during the book launch of Dr Lawrence Gonzi’s recollections on the Libyan crisis which will be held at The Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta tomorrow.

Mr Jalil arrived today and immediately called on Dr Gonzi and Speaker Anglu Farrugia.

He will also be calling on the President, the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.

During this afternoon's visit Dr Gonzi said he was proud that the Maltese government had stood by the Libyan people and helped them achieve democracy and freedom. He said he was optimistic about the future despite the country's future despite its problems.

Mr Jalil said it was impossible to forget what Malta had done for Libya and he was grateful for Dr Gonzi's leadership and courage.

Written by Dr Joseph Cassar, former ambassador to Libya, the book offers a unique insight into Malta’s role in the crisis. Mustafa Abdul-Jalil also contributed to the book through a foreword in which he sheds light on the role Lawrence Gonzi had in assisting the cause of the Libyan revolution. The book also carries another introductory message by Mahmoud Gebbril, the former Libyan Prime Minister.
