Air Malta had to cancel three flights to Catania after the city’s airport was closed because of volcanic ash from Mount Etna.

The cancellations were KM 642/3 on Sunday and yesterday’s KM640/1 and KM642/3.

The airline operated an extra flight to Palermo yesterday afternoon and organised land transport between the two airports. Other passengers from Catania were rerouted in the evening on sea passenger services.

Air Malta is monitoring the situation and is offering its passengers free rebooking to the same destination or a full refund of ticket.

For any rebooking or rerouting enquiries people should call on 2166 2211, while those booked to travel should call on 5004 3333.
