Hundreds of residents of Nadur and other villages turned out for the Christmas market held by the village council last Sunday to buy items such as clothes, shoes and bags, and Christmas gifts, including hampers, decorations and poinsettias.

Several local organisations also took part by setting up a stall, such as Inspire, which sold books in aid of its mission of providing therapeutic, educational and leisure services to people with disabilities.

Visitors also took the opportunity to visit an exhibition of cribs, Christmas figurines and statuettes by artist Charlie Camilleri, as well as some antique Baby Jesus statues at Blended Art Gallery Studio in Xandriku Street, Nadur, which has been open since December 1.

The Christmas spirit will continue at Nadur square on December 22 from 2.30pm onwards with a performance by the Big Friends Guggen Musik Band. Santa Claus will also join in the festivities.

On the same day, a live Christmas crib will open at Dar Dun Franġisk Grima, 37, Racecourse Street, Nadur. This first-time initiative is being taken by Għaqda Ħbieb tal-Presepju fin-Nadur, which has only recently been formed. It will be open on Saturdays from 5.30 till 8pm and Sundays from 3 till 8pm, up till January 5.
