The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will be celebrating one of opera’s greatest composers, Giuseppe Verdi, with Viva Verdi.

The concert, commemorating the bicentenary of the composer’s birth, will showcase talented sopranos Claudia Tabone and Andriana Yordanova, baritone Joseph Lia and bass Albert Buttigieg, performing various scenes from some of Verdi’s best-loved operas.

The full-length concert features selections from Verdi’s masterpieces, such as Rigoletto, La Forza del Destino, Nabucco, Don Carlo, I Vespri Siciliani and Macbeth.

The arias are flanked by some of the most spectacular over-tures in the operatic orchestral repertoire.

The concert will be under the direction of Michael Laus. There will also be a pre-concert talk for ticket holders at 6.45pm.

Viva Verdi is taking place on Saturday at 7.30pm at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta. For bookings, call 2124 6389.
