Passengers on an Air Malta plane that was struck by lightning yesterday were never in any danger, an airline spokesman said.

The incident happened during the plane’s descent into Tel Aviv airport. No one was injured and the plane, operating flight KM7828, landed safely.

The airline said it was “fairly normal” for commercial flights to be struck by lightning and all the airline’s aircraft were certified against such incidents.
